In a shocking development in the world of cricket, the captain of the Bangladesh Cricket Captain Tamim Iqbal Announces Shock Retirement from international cricket. This decision comes just a day after the Bangla Tigers suffered an unexpected defeat against Afghanistan in a rain-affected match. With only three months left for the ODI World Cup, Bangladesh will now have to search for a new captain. Tamim was visibly emotional as he made his retirement announcement during a press conference.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has not yet announced the name of Tamim’s successor in the 50-over format. There is a high chance that either Shakib Al Hasan or Litton Das will get the job. Shakib already leads the Bangladesh team in the T20I format, while Litton is the captain in Test matches.

Tamim had confirmed his retirement from T20Is around the same time last year. He played his last Test match for the country against Ireland in April.
The opening batsman was just a teenager when he made his ODI debut in February 2007. Tamim’s opening innings came in Bangladesh’s iconic victory against India in the World Cup in the West Indies, where he scored a half-century.
By hanging up his boots, Tamim leaves behind a remarkable record as the highest run-scorer for the team (8,313) and has scored 14 centuries in the ODI format. Among active cricketers, he is the third-highest run-getter in ODIs, behind only Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

In the Test format, Tamim finishes his career with over 5,000 runs to his name, including 10 centuries and 31 half-centuries. In T20Is, he has scored 1,758 runs, including a century and seven fifties.
