Eligibility Criteria for KTET 2024 Notification
To apply for KTET, applicants must complete specific educational qualifications. These qualifications ensure that candidates are well prepared and equipped with the necessary pedagogical skills to meet the diverse educational needs of students.
For Category 1 (Lower Primary Classes)
Applicants must have passed A Higher Secondary or equivalent of at least 45% and a 2-year primary diploma under the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations 2002 or Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or it’s equivalent) in accordance with at least 50% grades and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B. El.Ed.). or Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with at least 50% of grades and a 2-year education degree (special education).
For Category 2 (Upper Primary Classes)
Qualification for teaching positions in Kerala includes B.A., B.Sc. or a B. Com. diploma and 2 year Diploma in basic education or a qualified teacher ’certificate (TTC) from the Kerala Government or its equivalent. Alternatively B.A., B.Sc.or a B.Com. degree with at least 45% marks and a one-year bachelor’s degree in education (B.Ed.) In accordance with NCTE regulations, or a higher / senior secondary with at least 50% of grades and a 4 year Bachelor of basic education (B.El.Ed.) or 4 year BA/B. Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
For Category 3 (High School Classes)
The test is intended for HSA : (I) Malayalam (ii) English (iii) hindi (iv) sanskrit (v) Tamil (vi) kannada (vii) Arabic (viii) urdu (ix) Social Sciences (x) Physical Science (xi) Natural Sciences and (xii) Mathematics
- BA/BSc/B.Com. with a rating of at least 45% and B.Ed. Degree in the subject (from a University of Kerala or any other university recognised as equivalent)
- Persons with : M.Sc.Ed. In Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany or zoology, you can apply to one of the NCERT sponsored regional educational institutes if they have a score of at least 50%. For botany and zoology subjects, candidates with: M.Sc.Ed. or a life sciences education degree with at least 50 percent Marks from any regional institute is also eligible to apply.
- Candidates in SC/ST and different compatible categories are eligible for 5% relaxation in minimum qualifying marks. Similarly, candidates in OBC and OEC classes receive a 3% reduction in qualifying marks for the K-TET III examination.
Language teachers in Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit and Urdu (up to upper primary level), special education teachers and physical education teachers (up to high school level).
- Those who have qualified for the positions of Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit and Urdu Language teachers (up to the upper primary level), special education teachers and physical education teachers as mentioned in Chapter XXXI of the Kerala Education Act and regulations are eligible to apply. K-TET IV.
- Candidates in the SC/ST and various matching classes are offered a 5% mark reduction for eligibility in the qualifications assigned to K-TET IV.
