Windham Rotunda, the professional wrestler better known as Bray Wyatt, died unexpectedly on Thursday at the age of 36

Rotunda was a third-generation wrestler, following in the footsteps of his father, Mike Rotunda, and grandfather, Blackjack Mulligan.

He made his WWE debut in 2009 and quickly rose through the ranks, winning the NXT Championship in 2010.

He later adopted the persona of Bray Wyatt, a cult leader who led a group of followers known as The Wyatt Family.

Wyatt became one of WWE's most popular wrestlers, winning the WWE Championship twice and the Universal Championship once. He was also a two-time WWE Tag Team Champion with Erick Rowan.

WWE said in its statement that Rotunda was "a beloved member of the WWE family and one of the most creative minds to ever step foot in a ring." The company said it would "continue to keep his memory alive."
